Ganna Walska LotusLand
Santa Barbara is a lovely city to live in and to visit, but many don’t know of the wonderful town just south of Santa Barbara, Montecito. Montecito has its own charm, for sure, and there are many things to do and to see there. Ian Filippini Santa Barbara has his primary office in Montecito and enjoys spending there in his leisure time as well. One of the coolest sights to see in Montecito is Ganna Walska Lotusland.
Ganna Walska Lotusland is a 37 acre garden located on the estate that used to belong to Ganna Walska (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ganna_Walska). Before she died, Ganna Walska donated her gardens and estate to the Ganna Walska Lotusland Foundation, which is a non-profit organization. The estate contains hundreds of rare and exotic plants with many themed gardens throughout.
Some of the themed gardens include cactus, topiary, bromeliad, succulent, fern, cycad, water, Japanese, Australian and a blue garden! Ian Filippini Santa Barbara’s favorite themed garden is the succulent garden (which is appropriate for being a Santa Barbara local). There are tours of the gardens offered between February and November, Wednesdays-Saturdays at 10:30am and 1:30pm. Reservations are required for any tour, private or otherwise (http://www.lotusland.org/learn/lotusland-history/).
